2. Texas Rangers

The Rangers are going to have to add an arm here soon. They got off to a ridiculously fast start that put them in the driver’s seat in the division, but that lead is slipping, and fast.

They have gone 4-10 in the month of July, and have seen their lead on the Astros slip from well over 10 games down to 4.5 as we head to the trade deadline.

The lineup is not a problem in anyway, only in that they have so much depth. However, the rotation lacks depth and any talent behind Cole Hamels and Yu Darvish.

The Rangers have the worst fielding independent pitching, and expected fielding independent pitching in all of baseball. They have gotten to the point of signing 37-year-old Kyle Lohse off the street, and having him pitch through arm soreness just to eat a few innings for them.

Pineda would not come in and fix everything immediately. However, he certainly would turn the temperature down on a rotation that is about to go up in flames. The Rangers have one of the most talented and one of the deeper farm systems in all of baseball. They should be looking desperate to take advantage of this division lead, and should realize that this young Astros team will never be more vulnerable than this year.

Pineda will not bring in a mind-blowing haul. However, if any team is to overpay for his services due to desperation, it would be the Rangers.
