Roy Jones Jr. wants five more fights before retiring

Roy Jones Jr. wants to extend his career to five more fights before retiring at the end of the year, Kobe Bryant style.
Roy Jones Jr. is one of the most decorated boxers in the world. From when he got robbed at the Olympics to securing belts in four different weight classes, Roy Jones has done it all. He has nothing left to prove, yet even at age 47, he just can’t seem to hang them up for good.
In an exclusive video captured by TMZ, Roy Jones Jr. finally stated that he intends to retire… after fighting five more times. And he wants those five fights to occur by the end of the year. He stated that he was inspired by Kobe Bryant’s farewell tour, and wants one of his own:
It’s not as if Jones is going to go out and fight world-beaters either. The way he described it, he wants “five guys you should be able to deal with, and call it a day.” So the only reason he wants to take these five fights is to pad his record which, at 63-9, doesn’t need any more padding.
It was apparent that Roy Jones wanted to take this approach of fighting beatable guys when he issued a $100,000 challenge to fans who thought they could beat him. And because boxing is such an unpredictable sport, it’s not a given that he’s going to go 5-0 against these guys. They know they’ll never get another chance to fight Roy Jones and will go in with nothing to lose. We are, after all, only a few months away from seeing him get brutally knocked out by Enzo Maccarinelli of all people.
At this stage in his career, any big shot that Jones takes could severely alter his life expectancy. He should just retire now before he does any more damage to his body.
