WWE Draft 2016: NXT star Nia Jax to RAW at No. 25

During Tuesday’s WWE Draft 2016, the first NXT female superstar drafted was Nia Jax who went to the WWE Raw brand with the No. 25 pick.

The WWE Draft 2016 was full of surprises on Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live and among those surprises were which NXT superstars would end up on which brands. The draft rules that were released days ahead of the event indicated that a total of six roster spots would go to NXT wrestlers, which brought up plenty of speculation about who would be taken. Finn Balor and American Alpha were among the first choices made from the NXT show.

With the No. 25 pick, RAW upgraded its women’s division even further by drafting Nia Jax. While she was not the first women’s superstar drafted overall, she was the first female to be selected from the NXT roster which also includes talents such as Bayley, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Asuka, among other stars

The 32-year-old Nia Jax was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and first signed to WWE back in 2014. She made her official debut on the NXT show in October of 2015 with a win over Evie. Since then, she’s wreaked havoc on all other female competitors racking up many wins. She had several attempts at winning the NXT Championship but was unsuccessful in those pursuits.

However, one would have to believe that moving to the RAW roster, which also has the women’s champion Charlotte, is a seriously good place for Nia to be now. She’ll have a chance to capture even more publicity on the live TV show and can potentially put the WWE Women’s Championship around her waist in the future. She certainly seems like a dominant addition to an already strong women’s division in professional wrestling.
