American Alpha was the second pick from NXT in the WWE Draft with Smackdown taking the tag team at No. 22 overall

When you think about the superstars in NXT that could have potentially been selected in the WWE Draft on Tuesday night for Smackdown, the people like Finn Balor, Bayley, Shinsuke Nakamura, and many others came to mind. However, there was really only one tag team that anyone was even considering and that would be the former NXT Tag Team Champions in American Alpha.

After Balor was the first superstar from NXT to be taken when he came off the board at No. 5, though, it was a long wait for the next stars from NXT to be taken. However, Smackdown pulled the trigger finally at pick No. 22 when they took the duo of Chad Gable and Jason Jordan.

That’s right—American Alpha were taken 22nd by Smackdown in the WWE Draft:

If you aren’t wholly familiar with NXT or weren’t fully aware of American Alpha heading into the WWE Draft, you’re going to be in for a treat. Gable is a former Team USA wrestler that is low-key hilarious and technically gifted in the ring beyond measure. Meanwhile, Jordan is technically sound also, but also is an absolute powerhouse and the master of the hot tag.

Though WWE RAW may have taken The New Day as the first tag team off of the board, Smackdown just got a steal in this team as American Alpha are destined to be big stars on their new show.
