Identifying the top high salary and value second baseman plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 20 DraftKings lineup.
Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.
As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.
High Salary
Steve Pearce, Rays (5,300): Pearce made an impressive return Tuesday after a stint on the disabled list, going 2-for-5 with a home run (19 DK points). He could build off of that in Wednesday’s matchup with Colorado Rockies left-hander Jorge De La Rosa (6-6, 5.50 ERA). Pearce has crushed lefties this season (.383, .766 slugging), so he stands out as a top play.
Logan Forsythe, Rays (5,200): Another Rays second baseman? Yep. Pearce actually has first base eligibility, so you could stack the two. Tampa Bay has one of Wednesday’s highest expected run totals (6.0), so both Pearce and Forsythe make for solid plays against De La Rosa. Forsythe’s .344 average against lefties isn’t quite as impressive as Pearce’s, but it’s still pretty impressive.
High Value
Starlin Castro, Yankees (3,200): Castro is a steal at this price, given his recent production — five hits in his last three games and 44 total DK points. The 26-year-old second baseman has a favorable matchup Wednesday against Baltimore Orioles righty Yovani Gallardo (3-1, 5.77 ERA). Castro is 16-for-41 (.390) with three doubles in his career against Gallardo.
Josh Harrison, Pirates (3,000): Harrison’s struggles from June (.198) have so far carried over into July (.208), but he has hit safely in three straight games. He’s worth a look in GPPs due to his matchup with Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Chase Anderson (4-10, 5.44 ERA), against whom he is 2-for-3 with a double and home run.
