Identifying the top high salary and value shortstop plays from around Major League Baseball for your July 20 DraftKings lineup.

Our goal is to help you win DraftKings contests with consistently strong lineups. To accomplish that, we’ll be highlighting some higher salary players worth paying up for, and some value picks that will help you save salary in key areas. These picks are specifically for DraftKings lineups, so all references to prices and fantasy points are based on DK figures.

As always, be sure to double-check final MLB lineups and monitor weather situations before locking in your DFS lineups.

High Salary

Trevor Story, Rockies (5,100): Another day, another recommendation for Story. But after his first two games against Tampa Bay, are you really surprised? Story followed up his 28-point showing in the series opener with a 21-point effort on Tuesday. He should keep the momentum going Wednesday against struggling right-hander Chris Archer (4-13, 4.68 ERA). Story will be popular, but he’s an elite play.

Jonathan Villar, Brewers (4,800): Villar can often be overshadowed by many of the other dynamic young shortstops around the majors, but he’s quietly putting together a strong season. His 33 stolen bases leads all players, but he’s also hitting .299, including .330 against left-handers. That bodes well for his matchup Wednesday with Pittsburgh Pirates southpaw Jeff Locke (8-5, 5.26 ERA).

High Value

Manny Machado, Orioles (3,600): Anytime you can get Machado for this cheap, you have to consider it. He has just one hit over his last four games, which has contributed to his price drop. But he draws a nice road matchup Wednesday against New York Yankees right-hander Michael Pineda (3-9, 5.56 ERA), against whom he is 5-for-13 in his career.

Trea Turner, Nationals (2,900): Turner, long considered one of the top prospects in the majors, has looked good in his brief stint with Washington this season. He has four hits in his last three games, and has reached double-digit DK points in his last two games. He’s an ideal GPP play against Los Angeles Dodgers righty Bud Norris (5-7, 4.17 ERA).
