Looks like the England FA have found their new manager in Sam Allardyce.

In a move that needed to be done before their World Cup qualifier against Slovakia on September 4th, the England FA are close to announce the signing of Sam Allardyce as their 15th manager.

Allardyce is currently manager at English Premier League side Sunderland, a team he helped escape relegation this past season. Allardyce was considered a big favorite for the job, thanks to his experience and ability to work with not a lot of resources.

The decision to become the next England manager was said to be between Allardyce, Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, U.S national coach Jurgen Klinsmann and Hull City manager Steve Bruce.

Some have praised Allardyce for being able to get teams out of the relegation zone or into the EPL, like he did with Bolton Wanderers and West Ham. However, some think his record as a manager is not good enough to be in charge of England.

He has never won a major trophy, hasn’t played in big matches, was never capped by England and has a managerial record of 373-255-328 from 1992-2016. Still, Allardyce won two division titles and has been able to inspire his players to play better at all times.

According to the BBC, FA chief executive Martin Glenn mentioned that the next England boss needs to be able to shake off any criticism he gets from fans and the media.

“The British press, like it or not, are probably the most intensely passionate about the game in the world and that has a spill-over effect,” said Glenn.

Allardyce will have to bring his England team back to reality, after they got knocked out of the Euro’s last month to Iceland. He will need to act quick, as he will have just over a month to prepare for a World Cup qualifying match against Slovakia and will need to bring his inspirational speeches with him to help motivate this England squad.
