Hanley Ramirez hit three bombs, including a 468 foot shot over the Green Monster, in the Giants-Red Sox game on Wednesday.

Monster home runs are apparently the theme of the day. Earlier, Bryce Harper hit a moonshot into the third deck that flew 451 feet. Not to be outdone, Boston’s Hanley Ramirez hit three against the San Francisco Giants, including one that easily cleared the Green Monster and was measured at 468 feet.

That was in the first inning and ended a months-long home run drought for Ramirez. His second flew into the right-center field bullpen, causing players to scatter out of its path.

In-between homers two and three, Ramirez was plunked in what looked to be retaliation for owning the Giants’ pitching staff all by himself. He appeared to mouth “I’ll get you back” at pitcher Albert Suarez. That happened in the fourth inning. Ramirez got his chance in the bottom of the sixth, and wouldn’t you know:

That is as close as we will probably get to a player “calling his shot” in this day and age. You have to feel for Suarez after being shown up so completely.

Hanley Ramirez hit one monster home run, one opposite field home run, and one “don’t you ever throw a baseball anywhere close to me again, ever” home run. Let this be a lesson to any pitcher considering running one inside on Ramirez, it won’t end well for you.
