Who should the Minnesota Twins trade this summer at the deadline?

The Twins caught a lot of people by surprise in 2015. The team was in a four year period of 63, 66, 66, and 70 wins, and all of the sudden exploded for 83 wins last year. It really came out of nowhere, and seemed to be some special aligning of a few players performing over their head. It all came crashing down though as the Twins currently sit at 33-58 and are on pace to finish with the worst record in baseball.

The big problem seemed to be their pitching this year. Trevor May and Kyle Gibson, as well as the majority of the bullpen has regressed. Brian Dozier’s defensive concerns have caught up to him, and Miguel Sano dealt with some injury in first full MLB season.

All of this led to the Twins recent firing of their General Manager, Terry Ryan. It shows the Twins are ready to hit the reset button and try again.

They have some young names; Sano, Jorge Polanco, Jose Berrios, Max Kepler and Byron Buxton are all 23-years old and younger. They still need to find the core to build around these young players however. They are probably a team that should not be looking to get back to their 2015 season quite yet. They can build with prospects, take the slow route and hit a peak when their young core hits their prime ages of 26 or 27.

It means the Twins should be selling any player they do not envision being with the club three years from now. Joe Mauer, a lifelong Twin is probably untouchable and that is fine. The team still needs a veteran presence in the clubhouse, and having Mauer around makes moving on from most of the other veterans much easier.

With that said, here are the five players the Minnesota Twins should trade
