2. Kurt Suzuki to Red Sox

The Twins have seemingly dangled Suzuki in trade talks since they acquired him in 2014. This year, with the GM news it really feels like he is the catcher to be had this summer.

There are not too many teams with a need for a catcher, but the Red Sox and Indians come to mind.

The Red Sox have shuffled multiple catchers, and have their current prospect Blake Swihart recovering from surgery. The Indians just lost Yan Gomes in weeks leading up to the deadline. They were doing fine without getting much from Gomes offensively, and have said to have two young catches that they trust defensively and with the pitchers. Therefore, if it came to a bidding war, the Red Sox would almost certainly be the team to pay more Suzuki.

Even if Swihart is to come back, Suzuki could be used for depth on a team that certainly needs it at the catcher position.

Sandy Leon is currently holding down the starting position and is hitting an unreal .453. Still, he is a .247 hitter with 271 career at bats. Suzuki is a .257 hitter with over 4,000 at-bats. The experience will come in handy for this Red Sox team late into the season, and should be able to help both offensively and defensively. It will be a crazy haul for the Twins, but Suzuki is not in the plans and they can use a piece to build with.
