Minnesota United FC keeper Sammy Ndjock scored the unlikeliest of own goals in a friendly against AFC Bournemouth.

There’s having a bad day. And then there’s throwing a soccer ball into your own goal. Sammy Ndjock, goalkeeper for NASL side Minnesota United FC, did just that.

Minnesota took on Premier League club AFC Bournemouth in a friendly on Wednesday night. As expected, Bournemouth won easily with a score line of 4-0. Slightly less expected was Ndjock’s world class blunder.

Oh my. Oh no. That couldn’t have gone worse.

Ndjock had just retrieved a ball in the box and waived his teammates up the pitch. He then went into his throwing motion to distribute the ball. And then he changed his mind halfway through. It was a poor decision. His disjointed half-throw left his hand and went directly into his own goal. And what an own goal it was.

The angle of the video does not give the viewer a chance to see what was happening in front of the keeper. But something made Ndjock change his mind. Maybe he doesn’t even know what caused the gaffe himself.

It’s safe to say it was one of the most unlikely own goals you will ever see. Luckily for Ndjock, it was just a friendly, meaning nothing was really at stake. That being said, the Minnesota United keeper would probably like to have another go at it.

Take a look at the video again and pay attention to the guy in the red shirt and sunglasses behind the goal. He brings his hands to his head in the universal “How on Earth did that happen?” soccer pose. Hopefully Ndjock and his teammates were able to laugh it off, appreciating it for what it was: a hilarious mishap.
