On Thursday, Ray Rice make it apparent how badly he wants to play again.
In Feb. 2014, Ray Rice was caught on camera, blindsiding his then-fiancee Janay Palmer with a right hook to the jaw. She went down in an Atlantic City elevator, and his career justifiably went down with her.
Rice, who has since not played a down in the National Football League but still wants to, is now saying he would donate his entire 2016 salary to domestic violence prevention, according to USA Today. While this is a very admirable thought, it’s doubtful Rice gets another shot in the league. he’s been out of action for two years and the last time we saw him, the former Rutgers star rushed for 660 yards on 3.1 yards per attempt.
Meanwhile, the video game world is excited over the release of rookie ratings for Madden 17, which will hit shelves in August. Of all the first-year guys, it’s Jalen Ramsey of the Jacksonville Jaguars who got the highest marks, coming in at an 82 overall rating, per EA Sports.
Behind him is Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott at 80 overall, and then a three-way tie at 79 overall with San Diego Chargers defensive lineman Joey Bosa, Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker Roberto Aguayo and Baltimore Ravens left tackle Ronnie Stanley.
On a more unnerving note, the Green Bay Packers have two players who are getting called into the commissioner’s office to talk about steroids. Outside linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers are being talked to about their alleged involvement with PEDs, stemming from an Al-Jazeera report.
Out in Denver, Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has given defensive tackle Sylvester Williams the idea that Mark Sanchez will be the starting quarterback, according to his interview with SiriusXM radio. This gets filed under the category of “no surprise.” Sanchez was brought in to be the bridge from Brock Osweiler and Peyton Manning to Paxton Lynch, who was taken with the 26th-overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.
