Taking a look at the five most likely candidates to be elected into the MLB Hall of Fame in 2017.

2016 will be remembered by baseball fans as the year that Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza, two of the greatest ever at their respective positions, got enshrined in Cooperstown. With several players coming very close to getting the 75 percent required to be elected and some legendary players hitting the ballot for the first time, 2017 should see more than just two players elected.

Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens should be in the Hall of Fame because they are without question two of the most talented players of all-time. Bonds, PED allegations and all, could be the best all-around baseball player of all-time. Clemens has the highest fWAR of all starting pitchers. Unfortunately, their PED allegations will likely keep them out of Cooperstown for at least one more year.

2017 could be the year that several players who have been consistently getting more votes and inching ever closer to the 75 percent requirement finally get the 75 percent. It could also be the year that one of the greatest defensive catchers of all-time gets enshrined in Cooperstown.

Here are the top five MLB Hall of Fame candidates for 2017.
