Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Trevor Daley surprised kids and local firemen with a visit from the Stanley Cup.

The Pittsburgh Penguins season’s turnaround can be traced back to December 14, 2015. That was the day that the Penguins started playing much better than they had before. It’s not a coincidence that is the same day that they traded defenseman Rob Scuderi to the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Trevor Daley.

Daley’s fast game was a perfect fit for the Penguins and it helped propel them to the franchise’s fourth Stanley Cup title. He spent his day with the Stanley Cup visiting youth hockey players and firemen in his hometown of Toronto.

Daley was an extremely important member of the Stanley Cup champion Penguins. It’s quite telling that captain Sidney Crosby wanted to pass the Stanley Cup to him first. That is usually reserved for veterans or players who mean a lot to the captain and/or team. Daley seems to be OK after suffering a scary injury in the playoffs and is not expected to miss any regular season games.

After being traded to the Penguins, Daley had six goals and 22 points in 53 regular season games. He had just six points in his first 29 games with the Blackhawks. Daley added six points in 15 postseason games before getting injured in game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Finals. He is under contract with the Penguins for one more season before becoming an unrestricted free agent.
