DraftKings fantasy golf picks: PGA Championship 2016
10,000-9,000
Justin Rose (9,800): Rose looked to be in solid form two weeks ago at The Open as he fired 68-77-70-70 which would have put him in contention without that ugly second round. He looks to have overcome a back injury that cost him a couple weeks earlier this year and forced him to come into the U.S. Open without any kind of buildup. Before his layoff, Rose posted eight top-20’s in his first 11 events on the PGA Tour. He may be a bit under-owned this week, but he has made the cut each of the last four years at the PGA with a t3 in 2012 and a solo-fourth last year.
Sergio Garcia (9,400): Garcia was a very popular pick going into the week at The Open, and he didn’t totally disappoint finishing a solid t5. He has finished identical t5 in each of his last three starts since winning the Byron Nelson at the End of May. His first t5 came at the U.S. Open after a t34 at Augusta in the first Major of the season.
The only drawback to Sergio is that despite his good history in Majors, he has often struggled at the PGA. He hasn’t finished in the top ten since a runner-up finish in 2008 to Padraig Harrington. Garcia did play in 2005 at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol finishing t23 that week. I expect a strong finish from the Spaniard even though he is 0-72 in his career at taking home his elusive Major.
Rickie Fowler (9,200): Rickie crashed out of The Masters and the U.S. Open, but he did end up t46 at The Open Championship. Two weeks before that, he notched an even more promising top-10 at the WGC-Breidgestone where there was an elite field. Fowler has been in the top 30 in each of the last three PGA Championships highlighted by a t3 in 2014. He doesn’t come in with the best form, but he can put together a great week and beat elite competition when eh’s on the top of his game.
