DraftKings fantasy golf picks: PGA Championship 2016
8,000-7,500
Martin Kaymer (7,900): Kaymer posted solid finishes earlier this summer in Europe with a t5 at the Open de France and t13 at the Scottish Open. Like Patrick Reed, he opened with a 66 at The Open Championship but ended up t36 after a pair of 74’s on the weekend. Kaymer has Major Championship pedigree with a PGA Championship in 2010 and a U.S. Open in 2014. Kaymer has missed the cut in three of the five PGA Championships since his win at Whistling Straits, but he finished t12 as the Championship returned there last season. He comes in to this event with enough current form to be a nice option under 8K.
Brooks Koepka (7,800): Koepka is a high-risk play this week since he hasn’t played since withdrawing from the WGC-Bridgestone after a t13 at the U.S. Open. He has been dealing with an ankle injury in the weeks since forcing him to miss The Open Championship. He finished runner-up in his two events before the U.S. Open, the Byron Nelson and the St. Jude Classic. In the last five Major Championships, he has finished in the top-25, so if he stays in the field and is able to play up to his potential he has a ton of upside at this price point.
J.B. Holmes (7,700): Holmes had a great week in Scotland with a consistent 70-70-69-69 which led to a solo-third for the long-hitting American. He’ll look to continue that momentum at Balustrol. Holmes has a handful of top-ten finishes this year in his 15 PGA Tour events including a t4 at the Memorial and a t4 at The Masters where he has contended with elite fields. He comes into this week at #16 in the world which makes him a good value.
Jim Furyk (7,600): Furyk never really got things going at Royal Troon finishing t59, but he is a steady and solid option at 7,600 with low risk. He has made the cut in his last five straight tournaments after getting back from the wrist injury that cost him the first six months of the year. Furyk has finished in the top ten six times in his 21 career appearances at the PGA Championship and was t34 at Baltusrol. He finished a solid t12 last week in Canada after a -4 on Sunday.
Brandt Snedker (7,500): Snedeker entered the final round as the leader at last week’s RBC Canadian Open but finished with a 71 to end up t5. In three of his last four starts before that he had finished in the top 25 including a t22 at The Open and a t21 at the Bridgestone. Sends has contended at Majors and owns a FedEx Cup, but he hasn’t been able to break through to get a Major win. He has played the PGA Championship nine times in the past with top-15 finishes in each of the last two seasons.
