4. Texas Rangers

There may be no ballpark in MLB to which Joey Votto is better suited than Globe Life Park, home of the Texas Rangers. The Rangers would love to have Votto on their team and they certainly have the prospects necessary to trade for him. There is just one problem: Prince Fielder.

The Rangers gambled big time by trading second baseman Ian Kinsler for first baseman Prince Fielder. It was a gamble that many at the time thought would pay off, but Fielder has been unimpressive since moving to Texas in 2014. He hasn’t shown his power like the Rangers would have hoped and, while he had a nice season in 2015, he has taken a turn for the worse in 2016, with an OPS of just .626.

Fielder is under contract with the Rangers until 2021. If they want to trade for Votto, they’ll likely have to pay even more than other teams because they’ll have send Fielder to the Reds, who will presumably expect the Rangers to eat some of his contract.

Still, Votto would be a terrific fit with the Rangers. His power might develop even more, making him a lethal threat. But even if his power isn’t optimized in Arlington, his ability to get on base and hit doubles make him a very valuable player.
