NFL investigation determines Peyton Manning did not use HGH or any other banned substances.
Peyton Manning called it quits after 18 seasons in the NFL earlier this year. The two-time Super Bowl champion spent 14 years playing with the Indianapolis Colts and four with the Denver Broncos.
Manning has been a standup guy throughout his illustrious career, though a report came out recently that threatened to dent his legacy.
The five-time NFL MVP was linked to HGH and PEDs in the Al Jazeera PED case. Some of the other players named in the case were Green Bay Packers linebackers Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews, and long time Pittsburg Steelers linebacker James Harrison.
Now, after an investigation, the NFL has cleared Manning of any wrongdoing.
According to Adam Schefter, “After a seven-month investigation, the NFL has determined that Peyton Manning did not use HGH or any other performance-enhancing drug banned under the league’s policy.”
Schefter also stated that the NFL interviewed Manning and his wife and they were “fully cooperative with the investigation,” according to the league.
This is very good news for Manning and his brand. PED use has damaged the legacy of many great athletes over the years, including MLB players like Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens.
Now Manning can officially ride off into the sunset after an amazing career, a career that ended with a second Super Bowl title after an impressive 24-10 victory over Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.
