Michael Vick spoke in an interview recently about his NFL future and mentioned a few quarterbacks that could keep up with him in terms of speed. Reigning NFL MVP Cam Newton didn’t make the cut.

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick still believes that he could land on a roster for the 2016-17 season. Vick told The Charlotte Observer that he’d love to play for a contender, but also said that there isn’t a team he wouldn’t consider playing for.

In terms of his speed, Vick remains one of the fastest in the league (if he sticks again) and arguably the fastest quarterback in the history of the NFL. (Just play with him in Madden 2004 and you’d probably agree.)

When asked about quarterbacks that could keep up with him these days, Vick named a trio of guys: Russell Wilson, Colin Kaepernick and Robert Griffin III.

While in Charlotte — the home of the Carolina Panthers — Vick was asked about Cam Newton.

"“Cam couldn’t beat you in the 40?” a reporter asked. Vick ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at his pro day while Newton was clocked at 4.59 seconds.“No, Cam can’t beat me in the 40,” Vick smiled. “But his speed is decent. Decent speed. Good enough. Fast enough, I will say that.”"

Despite the hint of trash talk from Vick, he did go on to praise Newton and his fantastic 2015 campaign that led to him winning league MVP.

"“I like Cam’s style. I think you’ll have more kids that will want to play with this kind of style,” Vick said. “But everybody’s not going to be blessed to grow to 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds. And it’s all muscle. He’s special.”"

Michael Vick racing Cam Newton seems like something you’d see during the week of the Pro Bowl, but it’s sounds like a lot of fun and would probably have a lot of spectators.
