For 14 seasons, Seth MacFarlane and Family Guy have been one of the most popular shows on television. Is their journey finally taking them to theaters?

As Family Guy enters its 15th season on Fox programming, there’s one thing that missing on the show’s resume: a full-length film.

The Simpsons hit the big screen in 2007 with their self-titled movie and for years, the question has been whether or not that MacFarlane and his masterpiece of a show would follow suit. The show has done parodies of Star Wars films in the past that received rave reviews, but nothing along the lines of a movie in the theaters.

At the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, some of the cast and producers of the show answered questions on the thought of the show being featured as a film.

“I think it’s always talked about,” said producer Alec Sulkin.

"“There are no specific plans for a movie right now but it is something that’s on Seth’s mind. If I were a gambling man, I’d say within the next five years, probably there’ll be something.”"

So, you’re telling me there’s a chance?

"“And I can tell you, he is a gambling man,” producer Rich Appel added after Sulkin’s thought. Sulkin went on to say that he’d put a lot of money on the film actually coming to life someday."

Family Guy movie would be fantastic and would most likely do well in the box office. Back in 2007 when The Simpsons released their own film, the movie made almost $528 million in the box. You would be safe to assume that Family Guy could make around that mark and potentially more.
