On the first episode of WWE’s SmackDown Live, SmackDown commissioner Shane McMahon and general manager Daniel Bryan announced five combatants in the opening segment of the show for the main event: a Six-Pack Challenge to determine the new No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam.
The sixth would be the winner of the battle royal that took place after the opening segment and the winner was Dolph Ziggler.
After winning the over-the-top rope battle royal, Ziggler pinned A.J. Styles in the main event and became the new No. 1 contender for Dean Ambrose’s WWE title.

Ziggler and Ambrose will be the SmackDown main event of SummerSlam next month in Brooklyn. The match makes for a solid main event, especially after former NXT Finn Balor shocked the world and won two matches and the right to face Seth Rollins on Monday Night Raw for the new WWE Universal Championship in Brooklyn.

It’s been a while since Ziggler’s been in the main event scene on either show and this looks like a prime chance for him to show that he can belong with the best the company has to offer in the “New Era”.
Ambrose has been riding a high since winning the Money in the Bank ladder match and then the gold just an hour or so later. Both guys are known to be wreckless in the ring at times, so it should make for a hard-hitting main event next month.
