Broncos’ Demarcus Ware, Aqib Talib start training camp on NFI list

Two Broncos veterans have started the season out on the Non-Football Injury list due to a myriad of reasons.
John Elway confirmed an NFL Media report today on the status of Aqib Talib and added in Demarcus Ware’s status for good measure. The two veterans will start the year on the NFI, or the non-football injury list.
It’s not a surprise that Demarcus Ware is on the list. He’s getting old and battered and had to fight through several back issues from last year’s regular season on into the playoffs. There’s no need to rush Ware back, especially with Von Miller’s long-term deal going through.
Talib is another situation entirely. The cornerback was at a Dallas nightclub when he was shot in the Leg on June 5th. He said he’s running again, so it’s likely a precaution that he’s out. The Dallas Police Department also found an ounce of marijuana, but no charges were filed. It’s likely that the NFL will investigate the incident further and might level some sanctions against Talib.
Demarcus Ware is just getting old, but Talib is doing this to himself. He’s been suspended by the NFL for performance enhancing drugs before as well as being arrested for simple battery in St. Petersburg. If the NFL find something substantial in their investigation, it’s not likely Talib stays suspended for more than a game or so. He’s made his mistakes in the past, but beyond the marijuana, there’s no crime for being at a nightclub.
