What celebrities are in Hillary Clinton Fight Song video?
By David Rouben
Hillary Clinton’s campaign put together a remix of Fight Song filled with celebrities who support her.
If you watched the second night of the Democratic National Convention, you definitely noticed the music video that was put together for Hillary Clinton before she made her entrance. “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten is one of her favorite tunes, and she thought what better way to honor all of her loyal supporters than by putting them all together in a music video, “We are the World” style?
The list of celebrities is expansive, and it’s easy to lose track of everyone in the video, but USA Today was kind enough to put together a list as a point of reference. Now good luck spotting all the celebrities throughout the video.
"Aisha Tyler, Alan Cumming, America Ferrera, Ben Platt, Billy Porter, Chrissie Fit, Connie Britton, Elizabeth Banks, Ellen Greene, Esther Dean, Eva Longoria, Garrett Clayton, Hana Mae Lee, Ian Somerholder, Idina Menzel, Jaime King, Jane Fonda, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, John Michael Higgens, Josh Lucas, Julie Bowen, Kathy Najimy, Kelly Jackle, Kristin Chenoweth, Mandy Moore, Mary McCormack, Mary-Louise Parker, Mike Thompkins, Nikki Read, Rachel Platten, Renee Fleming, Rob Reiner, Shelley Regner, Sia and TR Knight."
The video was put together by Elizabeth Banks who directed Pitch Perfect, which is where Hillary got the idea for this.
The timing of this is also interesting since this music video came out only two days after John Oliver was finished roasting politicians for stealing campaign songs without the artists’ permission. But given that Platten herself is in the video, they clearly reached out to her for permission, and by recording their own version of it, they’re avoiding copyright infringement, so good on Hillary Clinton for avoiding that rookie mistake.
If Clinton does go on to win the election, expect to hear “Fight Song” a lot more in the coming days.
