7. Jack Youngblood’s broken leg

First off, the name is one of the greatest in NFL history.

Jack. Youngblood.

I mean, you can’t NOT be a badass with the name of Jack Youngblood. Just how badass was he? Well in the 1979 Divisional Playoff against Dallas, Youngblood was blocked below the knees and suffered a broken leg.

Instead of going away for the rest of the season and prepare for 1980, he decided to play the entire playoff run including the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl. Who in the hell plays the Pro Bowl on a broken leg?!?

Jack Youngblood, that’s who.

6. The Rams had pretty crappy ownership.

Remember when I said things changed once Rosenbloom took over the Rams in ’72?

Yeah, it wasn’t good.

In April of 1979, Rosenbloom died of a mysterious drowning in Florida. From there, his wife Georgia Frontiere was granted 70 percent of the team while his five children were given 30 percent. Many thought that his son Steve would get control of the team but after butting heads with he and GM Don Klosterman, Frontiere fired Steve Rosenbloom four months after getting control of the team.

Through the mid 80’s and early 90’s the franchise fell on hard times and with low fan support, an unhappy Frontiere decided to move the Rams to her hometown of St. Louis leaving the NFL without a team in Los Angeles.
