2. Joe Namath ended his career with the Rams

You know that thing that you don’t talk about at family reunions or parties?

Yeah, this is that thing.

With awful knees and not enough juice in the arm, Joe Namath left the Jets for a season with the LA Rams, he lasted only four games and threw only three touchdowns. Now you realize we don’t talk about it.

1. They were LA’s first pro sports team.

Before the Lakers, before the Dodgers, it was the Rams. Home expensive cars and movie stars, Los Angeles has true roots with pro football and the Rams are at the very heart of it.

After playing in Cleveland and going from the Dons to Rams, former owner Dan Reeves headed west. Los Angeles was the lone NFL team on the west coast until being joined by the San Francisco 49ers in 1950, following the merger of the All America Football Conference and NFL.

Football belongs in a place like Los Angeles and I for one am glad the Rams are back in L.A.
