In the latest NBA rumors, it appears that NBA All-Star Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers will be a producer on “The Rocketeer” reboot movie.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin is known for blasting off from the hardwood and throwing down some of the sickest dunks in the NBA today. Now he’ll appropriately be among the producers of an upcoming reboot for “The Rocketeer” from Walt Disney Studios.

On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that the film will reboot the 1991 movie of the same name. The original movie starred Billy Campbell as Cliff Secord aka “The Rocketeer,” with Jennifer Connelly as love interest Jenny Blake. The remade version is said to feature a black female lead character in the title role for this 1930s-inspired period superhero film about a pilot who discovers a high-powered jetpack which allows the wearer to fly.

Three producers are listed for the team with Brigham Taylor of “Jungle Book” co-producer fame likely to take the lead. He’ll be joined by Ryan Kalil of the Carolina Panthers and Griffin from the Clippers.

As an actor, he’s mostly made cameo guest appearances on shows. So far he’s been on “Greek” back in 2008 and the 2012 series “90210” and “The Book Club.” There’s also appearances as himself in various short films such as Funny or Die’s “Lil’ Blake” and “Live Blake Griffin Intern Cam.” The NBA star is also credited as a writer, editor, and director on “Flight of the Griffin.”

Griffin has yet to have any Hollywood movie credits listed for his name, so “The Rocketeer” reboot will be the first of them on his IMDB profile. Depending how the film does at the box office, it could provide a nice secondary income stream and future career once he hangs up his basketball shoes.
