Brandon Marshall’s quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is now signed with the Jets, and it made Marshall very confident
We have seen players show up to training camp in style. Last season, Antonio Brown made news by showing up to training camp in a decked-out Steelers addition of a Rolls Royce. Marshall saw Brown last year and wanted to one up him with a competition this year.
Marshall bet Brown that he will receive for more yards in 2016 than the 2015 leader in receiving yards. He is offering to bet Brown his car for Brown’s Rollys Royce if Brown is to accept.
Marshall may be confident, but Brown is certainly the favorite to win this bet. Last season, Brown finished with the fourth highest total of receiving yards in NFL history. Brown has also caught for more yards than Marshall in the past three seasons.
Over that three-year span, Brown has received for 5,031 yards. Marshall had caught for 3,518 in that same time. Last season, Brown had 332 yards more than the Jets star wide out.
Entering the 2016 season, there have been questions as to whether or not Antonio Brown can be the first wide receiver to ever catch for over 2,000 yards in one season.
Marshall is entering year two playing with Ryan Fitzpatrick, a quarterback he has admittedly gotten along with more than most of the quarterbacks in his career. At the same time, Antonio Brown is playing with Ben Roethlisberger, a Hall of Fame quarterback. Brown also saw his team lose fellow receiver Martavis Bryant for a full season. Offensive teammate Le’Veon Bell will also miss four games due to suspension meaning that the offense is going to be the Antonio Brown show early and often.
It is nice to see Marshall so confident in his potential this season, but you cannot help but think that if Brown is to accept this bet, that Marshall just lost himself an expensive car.
