Early in the career of every NBA player there has been a moment where it became abundantly clear that they were special. Not special in a “this guy could go on to college and be pretty good” but in a “man this guy is really going to be something and have a shot at being one of the best basketball players in the world” way. While I don’t follow high school recruiting outside of the state of New Jersey well enough to know exactly when it was for Gary Harris, it is hard to say that at the very least this shot that won a high school sectional championship in Indiana wasn’t at least one of those moments.

More from NBA

Harris has now gone on to become a really good shooting guard for the Denver Nuggets and watching him hit that shot it doesn’t feel like that much of a surprise. First of all, Harris just looks so much bigger than almost everyone else on the floor at the time, something that seems strange for a guy a bit undersized for his NBA position. Second, what a ridiculous shot that really only special players make. Over traffic, off the dribble, from deep, the shot has it all. It isn’t easy to hit that and Harris made it look simple.

Next: Karl-Anthony Towns is special too. His camp learned that.

I’m not sure if this is one of the best moment’s of Harris’s entire basketball playing career or not considering where he is now, but it would be up there for just about anyone else. To have all of your peers tear out of the bleachers and run around what I presume are hallways with you after hitting that shot has to just be a magical feeling.
