NBA free agency: Players that signed with the wrong team
10 players that signed with the wrong team in 2016 NBA free agency
NBA free agency is one of the trickiest games to play for all parties involved. From the perspective of a team and front office, they have to present the right set of circumstances for each player they wish to sign and then have to find the balance of paying said player an amount of money that is enticing but also isn’t financially crippling the organization. Suffice it to say that working in an NBA front office isn’t always an enviable position.
From the other side of the coin and the players’ perspective, though, there are many things that they must consider as well. They have to look at their “brand” considering how the league and marketing works these days, but also have to consider things like their family and future off the court in the city where they sign. And of course money is always on the docket for discussion.
However, the chief concern of the player should truly always be about what makes the most sense from a basketball perspective. You know what helps a player’s brand and future more than anything? Being a major part in winning basketball games in the NBA.
It feels like this is often forgotten, though other players like Kevin Durant obviously are just out here trying to rack up the Ws and potential titles to their credit. However, other players did not make such a winning-based decision and, for that reason and others, you could say those other players ultimately chose the wrong team in NBA free agency.
By that same token and with that in mind, these are the 10 players that signed with the wrong team.
