High Value SP

Jeremy Hellickson-Philadelphia Phillies (8,900): If you want a more established option, check out Jeremy Hellickson who takes on Julio Teheran and the Braves tonight in Atlanta.  Hellickson is coming off a great start against the Marlins in his last outing when he allowed just one hit in six shutout innings.  This month, he has an impressive 1.97 ERA over five starts and is 2-1 while holding opponents to just a .188 average.

Hellickson beat the Braves earlier this season allowing just one earned run in six innings and striking out three.  His punchout numbers have been inconsistent, but he has been pitching well enough lately to se him as a good value as he and the Phillies look to take the third game of their four-game set at Turner Field.

Jameson Taillon-Pittsburgh Pirates (8,200): Taillon will be making his second career start against the Brewers tonight as he looks to turn in his fourth quality outing in a row.  In his seven games since joining the Major Leagues, Taillon has five quality starts including two turns ago when he allowed one run on five hits to the Brewers over six solid innings.

Taillon struck out a career-high seven batters in his last start which came against the Phillies.  Tonight, he’ll take the mound at Miller Park, but he has shown no fear of pitching on the road where he is 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA. Taillon is a rookie starting pitcher, so there’s always risk involved, but if the Pirates want to climb into the thick of the Wild Card race they’ll need to take advantage of their upcoming games against beatable teams like the Brewers.∗∗∗
