Texas A&M has suspended two of their coaches after they were found to be involved with a sexist women’s clinic presentation.

Texas A&M has suspended offensive line coach Jim Turner and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks for two weeks after they took part in sexist jokes during a presentation. They will also have to do 20 hours of community service for their actions.

It’s amazing that in 2016, those kinds of jokes still exist. Female football fans are often alienated, for a variety of reasons. Comments like this are why they feel that way. The Aggies have dealt with the situation swiftly and strictly. They also released a statement through head football coach Kevin Sumlin. Turner and Banks also released an apology.

The question is, how did Banks and Turner not realize that their comments and slides were not appropriate? How did they think that those slides were acceptable during a Chalk Talk segment with almost 700 women there? Why did they think that making sexist jokes would be an attempt at humor? The Aggies did well to discipline them, but perhaps they were a tad bit too easy on them.

This is not the first time that Turner has been in trouble due to his actions. Turner was with the Miami Dolphins for a short period of time before being fired in 2014 allegedly over poor judgment in the Richie Incognito hazing scandal. This incident comes just a few months after wide receivers coach Aaron Moorehead was forced to apologize for a storm of tweets.
