With the College Football season set to begin at the end of August, the talk of the 2016 Heisman Trophy race will begin. This is College Football’s most prestigious award, which is given to the most outstanding player from the season, via a voting system.

This award is talked about from the opening kickoff to season’s end. Every game for the top players is evaluated, and then determined to see if they did enough to warrant consideration for the trophy.

In 2015, Alabama running back Derrick Henry won the Heisman Trophy. He had a fantastic season in Tuscaloosa, rushing for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns. This helped lead the Crimson tide to the National Championship in 2016 over the Clemson Tigers. Henry’s remarkable season led to him being drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans.

Henry’s remarkable season led to him being drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans, where he’ll have a chance to compete to be the starting running back.

As for the 2016 Heisman Trophy, players like Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey may be favorites for the award. They were the other two players in the final voting, before Henry took home the prize. Others will likely contest for the trophy by season’s end, but it wouldn’t be surprising to hear Watson and McCaffrey’s names mentioned for the award by December.
