The Olympics begin August 5 in Rio. They shouldn’t. Cancel. Postpone. Move them to a city that actually has a sanitation system fit for humans. Rio is not the least bit ready to host a baseball game, let alone an event attended by the best athletes in the entire world. Multiple reports state that Olympic athletes will be swimming in “human crap.” Brazil promised to spend four billion dollars to make their water cleaner but only ended up spending $170 million, a slight difference. This is a breach of contract to the highest power.
The Chicago Cubs traded for arguably the best closer in baseball sending 4 players, including top prospect 19 year old shortstop Gleyber Torres, to the New York Yankees for Aroldis Chapman. In addition to firing 105 miles per hour fastballs, Chapman also allegedly fired eight gunshots in the garage of his Miami-area home according to police reports in October, 2015. Chapman did this following an argument with his girlfriend in which she told police he “choked” her and pushed her against a wall.
Chapman showed up at Wrigley and got a standing ovation further cementing what we already know. Fans don’t care about anything else but winning, and the Chicago Cubs are doing their very best to win the World Series. Fans are starved for it, 1908 and all. Chapman could be a big part of it getting the last three outs of the ninth inning. All aboard!
