With the 2016 Summer Olympic games coming up shortly, we take a look back at the Top Five greatest moments in U.S Women’s Soccer history.

The U.S. Women’s Soccer Team will begin their quest to become the first women’s team to win a World Cup and Olympic gold in consecutive years. Coming off of a record year in 2015, which concluded in World Cup gold, the USWNT looks to continue their dominance in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
The United States will be competing in Group G along with New Zealand, France and Columbia. Under head coach Jill Ellis, who has been with the National Team since 2008 when she was the assistant coach, the USWNT will be set to make their way to the final match for the sixth time in a row.
Since the team was first founded in 1985, the fascination with this group of outstanding women athletes has continued to grow. The USWNT will begin their 2016 Olympics this Wednesday as they take on New Zealand in Mineirão, Belo Horizonte at 6pm ET.
The match will be shown live on NBCSN. Leading up to this first match we will be taking a look back at the top five moments in the USWNT history leading up to this point.
From the very beginning to today, the USWNT have made their way into the hearts of the American people, and will continue to do so for years to come.
