After nearly seven months without significant college football games being played, the season will soon be underway starting on August 25th.

It is been a long offseason for college football fans. The landscape of college football was massively altered when Baylor and its former head coach Art Briles parted ways sending many formerly committed Baylor recruits to all new teams. Additionally, fans got to witness Michigan’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh feud with SEC teams about Satellite camps. Overall, this offseason has been entertaining, but it’s good to realize that the first game of the season is less than a month away.

Despite having a little less than a month until the first touchdown is scored, college football fans won’t have to wait until the first game to start debating about which schools have the best teams. Even though teams haven’t faced off against each other the Amway preseason coaches poll is due to be released on August 4.

Unlike the Associated Press Preseason Poll which surveys media members, the coaches poll only surveys 64 NCAA head coaches. This year, the list of coaches that will be voting every week on the rankings will be released to the public soon after the poll itself is released.

Since only coaches get to participate in this poll, fans can use the preseason poll as a way of seeing how the rest of the NCAA views their favorite teams. It’s always a good feeling to see your favorite team near the top of the polls, as that means other coaches respect the ability of your team. However, if your team isn’t ranked highly, don’t worry just yet, games haven’t even been played yet.
