Auburn opens up its 2016 college football season September 3 against Clemson and will now do so without a presumptive starter on offense.
Jovon Robinson came into the season as the starting running back, but he not only lost the job Wednesday but lost his spot on the team.
Gus Malzahn dismissed RB Jovon Robinson from team today. Didn't "meet my standards"

Robinson was dismissed from the team by head coach Gus Malzahn, who didn’t cite any specific reason for the move other than to say he didn’t hold up his end of the bargain as an Auburn football player:
“I dismissed Jovon Robinson today,” Malzahn said. “He didn’t meet the expectations of being an Auburn football player.”
Robinson finished the 2015 season with 639 rushing yards and three touchdowns, finishing with 126 yards in a 31-10 victory over Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl.
His most productive game of the season came in a victory over Texas A&M when he carried the ball 27 times for 159 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson’s production picked up during the latter half of the season when he began to receive the majority of the carries.
The move is a major blow to the offense and to the career of the former No. 1 ranked player in junior college two years ago. No one ever wants to see a college kid get dismissed from a program, so hopefully, Robinson can figure his life out and continue playing football at another program in the near future.
