DraftKings MLB: Top Bargain plays for August 3rd (7:00pm slate only)
Finding value can be the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail.” Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to provide a handful of players that could provide critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB slate.
Tonight appears to be, an all too familiar, Coors Field night. The game in Colorado has the highest total (11) by a large margin. If you’re looking to fit these batters into your lineup, it’s going to come at a price. Last night we found some great value plays that proved to have upside as well. Here are my top recommended cheap options for tonight’s slate.
David Dahl – COL (OF) – $3000
As the great Larry David would say, Dahl has been pretty pretty pretty good. As mentioned, you’re going to need to have exposure to some bats from this game in Colorado. Dahl (L) is facing Stewart (R.) So far, he’s hit righties much better with a .478 wOBA split and a .333 ISO split. I would expect his ownership to be one of the highest of the night.
Greg Garcia – STL (2B/3B) – $3200
If Garcia is batting first for the Cards, he’ll be in a lot of my lineups. Even though Garcia is facing a lefty, he’s hit lefties much better with a .410 wOBA. He should be a beneficiary of St.Louis’s 4.9 projected runs.
John Jaso – PIT (1B) – $2400
Here’s your daily dose of Sir John Jaso. He’s just too cheap to ignore. If he’s leading off again, he’ll be a great punt option.

Gordon Beckham – ATL (2B/3B) – $3200
Atlanta doesn’t have an impressively high total, but if Beckham is batting first or second, he could give us value. Beckham has a favorable match up with Locke, a lefty, and provides dual position eligibility.
Chad Green – NYY (P) – $5800
Green is an intriguing option and I’m still not sure exactly how I’ll be using him tonight, but he could prove to be useful. Green has the ability to strike people out and holds a 10.8 strikeouts per nine innings rate. Green has been fairly inconsistent and has bounced around from AAA, to the bull pen, and to the starting rotation. If you’re looking to fully stack Rockies’ batters, Green could be your source of salary relief. I wouldn’t expect much, but cheap is cheap.
Note: Keep in mind that recommended plays are based off of early information and will be subject to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order. Follow me on Twitter @MattMcGarvey215, where I’ll try to update these plays the best I can!
