Ryan Fitzpatrick-New York Jets

The Jets didn’t give Fitzpatrick a ringing endorsement by waiting to sign him until the end of the offseason, and there definitely weren’t teams lining up to lock down Fitzpatrick when he was on the free agent market.  While he may not be a great real-life QB, Fitzpatrick has shown he can definitely be a serviceable fantasy option when he’s put in the right situation.

Last year was definitely the right fit for some FitzMagic as he put up the best QB numbers in Jets’ history throwing for 3,905 yards and 31 touchdowns.  He ended up as the 12th-highest scoring QB in ESPN standard scoring and added 270 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground as well.

Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall definitely showed a strong connection, and Marshall has spent most of the offseason lobbying to get Fitz back under center.  Eric Decker provides a nice complement on the other side of Marshall giving the Jets a solid receiving corps even without much production from the tight end spot.

Fitzpatrick doesn’t have much more upside than he showed last year making him a strong QB2 or a reliable backup for fantasy football this season.  If you can get him as the 15th-20th QB in your draft, though, I do think he will have another solid season as he continues his good work under Offensive Coordinator Chan Gailey.
