The Arizona Cardinals shelled out serious dough for Tyrann Mathieu.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals and safety Tyrann Mathieu agreed on a five-year, $62.5 million extension with a whopping $40 million guaranteed, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
For Mathieu, this is a contract many believed he would never see. The Honey Badger was incredibly talented at LSU but kicked off the team for a litany o off-field issues. Then, Mathieu came into the league and twice tore knee ligaments, but his incredible skills and versatility now have him as the highest-paid safety in NFL history.
Staying on the west coast, the San Diego Chargers have signed wide receiver James Jones, again according to Rapoport. Terms of the deal are unknown.
Jones played last season with the Green Bay Packers but was not brought back with Jordy Nelson on the mend. It’s unclear whether Jones can play well without Aaron Rodgers throwing him the ball. Last year, Jones went for 890 yards and eight touchdowns, one season after being cut early by the Oakland Raiders. Time will tell.
The Baltimore Ravens decided that Trent Richardson is indeed terrible, cutting him less than two weeks into training camp. Richardson signed this offseason for what is likely one final chance at his NFL dream. Once a third-overall pick by the Cleveland Browns back in 2012, Richardson has bounced around from there to the Indianapolis Colts, Oakland Raiders and finally, Baltimore. It is safe to say the party is over.
Lastly, the Dallas Cowboys might be in the market for Nick Foles after all. At practice on Tuesday night, backup quarterback Kellen Moore broke his right leg when an offensive lineman fell into him during a drill. Moore is certainly out for the season, and the backup currently would be rookie Dak Prescott. Considering Tony Romo’s lack of health in 2015, Dallas would be wise to get a legitimate insurance policy.
