The Tennessee Titans have signed linebacker Tim Shaw to a one-day contract.

On Wednesday, Tennessee came to terms on a one-day contract with former linebacker Tim Shaw, who played three seasons with the team from 2010-12, per ESPN. Unfortunately, Shaw was diagnosed with ALS in 2014, the same disease that afflicted Steve Gleason of the New Orleans Saints.

"“I could tell by the look on his face how honored he is to be a Titan for life and to realize he is making a difference in not just our lives, but the lives of players here and beyond,” his dad, John Shaw, said."

For Shaw, the moment officially ends his NFL journey but gives him the knowledge that he has not been forgotten. While he was never a famous player – mostly making his impact felt on special teams – Shaw was a respected guy within the locker room.

As for the Titans, good on them. Tennessee did the right thing by honoring one of its former players who is going through a brutal ordeal. Instead of turning the page without thought, the organization stepped up and made a difference.

Here is to Shaw getting to live many more years in relative comfort, perhaps enjoying some Titans football along the way.
