Will Smith weighed in on Donald Trump as a person at the Suicide Squad premiere.

Even though everyone was there to see Suicide Squad, the Presidential race still crept into the discussion. Will Smith was in attendance at the worldwide premiere of Suicide Squad in New York, and when Donald Trump was brought up, he couldn’t hold back. He described the candidate and his supporters in less than flattering terms:
"My grandmother would have smacked my teeth out of my head if I had referred to a woman as a fat pig. And I cannot understand how people can clap for that. It’s absolutely collective insanity. If one of my sons, I am getting furious just thinking about it, if one of my sons said that in a public place, they couldn’t even live in my house anymore. For me, deep down in my heart, I believe that America won’t and we can’t (elect Mr Trump). Of all the things he has said, and we could go through the laundry list, that was the one that was such an absolute illustration of a darkness of his soul. I just cannot figure out how people can clap for that. So, we are not even going to pretend it is going to happen. I have faith in America. America has had really critical times but the good (people) tend to make their way to the top."
Clearly, he didn’t care what anyone thought of him revealing his political views. The fact that he referenced Trump’s insult of Rosie O’Donnell was his way of showing that he has always been like this and that it isn’t just a play to get more votes.
While Donald Trump’s campaign has gotten him this far, he hasn’t exactly made friends with people of minority – just look at the crowd during the RNC. That’s why Smith views this upcoming election as a battle between good and evil, even though Hillary Clinton is a deeply flawed candidate in her own right.

Of course, in Suicide Squad, Will Smith’s role was that of a villain who was forced to play nice. But while the main characters behave poorly in that film, Smith probably feels that it doesn’t hold a candle to the way Donald Trump acts. This election feels like it’s too important to not vote, but Will Smith has his mind made up, and given how many people look up to him, consider this message a ringing endorsement for Hillary Clinton.
