Jordan Reed is already a standout tight end for the Washington Redskins, but could he play another position?
Next: Best QB/Head Coach Combos in NFL History
Jordan Reed is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He played 14 of 16 games in 2016, catching 87 passes for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns. This made Reed into a top target for quarterback Kirk Cousins, who also broke out in 2015.
With the 2016 NFL season approaching, teams are beginning to shape their depth charts. The Washington Redskins are beginning to do the same. They have Cousins as the starting quarterback, but are putting together his backups. Colt McCoy and Nate Sudfeld are listed behind the former Michigan State Spartan. However, it seems the Redskins have another alternative, someone fans wouldn’t expect. This is Reed, who head coach Jay Gruden said would be the emergency quarterback for the season.
Gruden says #Redskins will likely look to Jordan Reed as an emergency QB this season in injury situations.

The chances of the three-year pro getting in-game action as the quarterback probably aren’t high. However, he has previous experience as a signal-caller, dating back to high school. Reed was even ranked as the No. 10 player at the position after high school in 2009 by Rivals.com. Things obviously changed, though, as he played tight end at Florida.
So, we’ll see if Jordan Reed receives any time at quarterback in 2016. The regular season isn’t likely, but maybe he steps in during the preseason.
