MLB DFS: The Stud and Steal of the Day 8/4
Welcome Back!
We are back with the stud and steal of the day for MLB DFS! Looking at tonight’s slate of fifteen baseball games, it can be daunting to decide who deserves a place in your lineup. Knowing which star player is worth the money can be the difference between a winning night and one that ends in failure. However, finding the hidden gems that perform well are equally as important because they can let you spend more on your starting pitchers. This article will touch on one expensive player who is primed to have a big night, and one cheap player whom you wouldn’t normally play but is a great play tonight in MLB DFS.
Past Plays:
6/27:Mike Trout:3/4, 1 HR, 2B, 2R’s 1 RBI
6/28: Josh Donaldson:2/5, 3B,BB,3 RBI’s,1R

Next: The Stud of the Day
MLB DFS: The Stud of the Day: Mark Trumbo, 0F, ($4,500 DK, $3,800 FD)
Today’s stud of the day is a first timer who just so happens to lead the majors in home runs, this of course being Mark Trumbo of the Baltimore Orioles. Trumbo has been a pleasant surprise for Baltimore after being acquired before the season for a few lightly regarded prospects. Looking into his splits, it’s clear to see when you should consider using Trumbo and that’s whenever the Orioles face a right-handed pitcher.
Trumbo vs. LHP: .184 AVG, 9 HR’s, 19 RBI’s, 2 2B’s
Trumbo vs. RHP: .295 AVG, 21 HR’s, 56 RBI’s, 18 2B’s
As you can probably figure out by me referencing these statistics, the Orioles face off against righty A.J. Griffin tonight in Baltimore. Now Griffin has been good this year against right-handed hitters but has struggled mightily in his last 5 starts, (5.84 e.r.a) and should be beaten up again by a very potent Orioles offense.
In Fanduel and Draftkings doubles and home runs are extremely important because of the large amount of points players earn for hitting them, tonight there is no better player to get you these points than Mark Trumbo. The fact that the Orioles get to play at home is really the icing on the cake as Trumbo has been even better against right-handed pitching in hitter friendly Camden Yards.
Trumbo @ Home vs. RHP: 48/158, .304 AVG, 6 2B’s, 13 HR’s, 31 RBI’s
With all of this being said, I don’t see Trumbo being highly owned tonight because of the game at Coors Field. Get Trumbo in your lineups for both 50/50’s and GPP’s and watch the points come rolling in!
Next: The Steal of the Day
MLB DFS: The Steal of the Day: Curtis Granderson, OF, ($3,500 DK, $3,200 FD)
One thing that you might’ve noticed if you’ve read all of my articles is that you rarely see any Mets players being featured, this is not a coincidence. As a die-hard Mets fan I’m extremely superstitious against using any of their hitters but tonight I have to make an exception for the steal of the day, Curtis Granderson.

While his best days are certainly behind him, Grandy has fought through a horrible start to the season and has a nice matchup vs. right hander Nathan Eovaldi of the Yankees. Before even going into the stats, one thing you automatically get from Granderson is that he hits leadoff which means that he gets the maximum number of at bats for each game the Mets play. More at-bats means more chances to get points which is always a plus, anyway, on to the stats.
Granderson vs RHP on the Road: 38/142, .268 AVG, 8 HR’s, 7 2B’s, 14 RBI’s, 24 Runs
While the average might not seem that impressive, it’s almost 80 points higher than his average vs. right-handed pitching at home. Couple this with the fact that Granderson has never been an extremely high average guy and .268 looks that much better. A lead off hitter with the type of power that Granderson has is extremely rare and he has also had a good amount of success in his career vs. Eovaldi, (albeit in a limited sample size.)
Granderson vs. Eovaldi, (4/8, .500 AVG, 2 HR’s, 3 Runs, 3 RBI’s)
Given all of these factors I think that Granderson is a very good play tonight especially given how low his price is on both sites. You get 4/5 at bats in lefty friendly Yankee Stadium against a pitcher that he has hit 2 home runs against in only 8 at bats, sign me up.

Be sure to get Curtis Granderson and Mark Trumbo in your lineups tonight and as always, may we all win money!
