Nick Foles is about to reunite with Andy Reid in Kansas City.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is getting a chance to work with an old friend. The NFL Network tweeted out late Wednesday night that quarterback Nick Foles has agreed to a deal with the Chiefs.

Foles was released by the Rams on July 27, as they granted his request for his departure from the team. He struggled toward the end of the season, and was benched after Case Keenum returned from a concussion he had suffered during the year. His tenure with the Rams lasted all of one season, and his struggles indicated he may not stick around for a second year.

The Chiefs won a bidding war that also included offers from the Cowboys as well as the Vikings. Foles will slide in as a backup behind veteran Alex Smith. Two potential interesting situations have now arisen from this news. One is how Foles’ arrival affects the rotation of quarterbacks in Kansas City, and the other concerns where Dallas might look for a viable backup.

Benjamin Albright of the NFL Network has his theory on how things will play out for the Chiefs.

Now to Dallas, where things may not be well in Jerry-land. With Tony Romo having problems the last couple of seasons, who do they turn to as a possible backup? Albright further offered that they are now looking at Josh McCown as well as former Texans QB TJ Yates.

With Foles off the market, the AFC West now takes on an interesting new look. Can Foles help his former coach take over the division? And more importantly, how worried should Alex Smith be about his job security? We should get a lot of answers as the season unfolds.
