Chris Ivory-Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars have upgraded several positions this offseason, but among there most important acquisitions was running back Chris Ivory who they signed as a free agent after his huge year last year with the Jets.  Ivory ran for over 1,000 yards and finished as a top-ten fantasy RB in almost every format. Most people think he’ll fall way short of that mark this year, and some expert rankings have him as a RB4 at this point in the preseason.

He will almost definitely start the season in a timeshare with the Jags’ rookie from last year T.J. Yeldon.   Yeldon  played 12 games in his rookie year running for 740 yards and adding 279 yards through the air.  He found the end zone only three times, though, and wasn’t a great goalline option.

Ivory should start the year getting plenty of short yardage and goal line opportunities, and it looks like he may get slightly more work early in the season.  Both running backs are a bit injury prone, so from week to week their time share could fluctuate based on who is feeling the best headed into the game.

Ivory showed last year that he can be a bruising downhill runner, and the Jags will look to use him and Yeldon to complement a developing passing game under Blake Bortles (who I also like as a sleeper this year). If you can get Ivory in the middle rounds this year or if Yeldon doesn’t show signs of progress, Ivory could end up being a great value since the Jags offense looks to be taking steps forward.
