Taking a look at when the first NFL preseason game will be played
It’s been almost exactly six months since NFL football has been seen by the fans on TV and it’s safe to say that people are simply having gridiron withdrawals. Though it’s not the same as the regular season, the start of the 2016 NFL preseason is just around the corner and there is so much to look for right out of the gate.

First off, it’s the first time that teams will get a look at their new rookies and acquisitions that they made in the offseason. For instance, the Los Angeles Rams will get a bird’s eye view of Jared Goff for the first time in game-action while the Philadelphia Eagles can do the same with Carson Wentz. Moreover, you can see someone like Lamar Miller with his new team, the Houston Texans, or Malik Jackson on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
What’s more is that the NFL preseason offers the chance for players to see new coaches in action during a game and see what their new schemes are going to look like when put into motion.
All this, of course, begs the question of when the NFL preseason officially begins and when the first game of the NFL preseason will be. The answer there would be the Hall of Fame Game on Sunday, Aug. 7 between the Indianapolis Colts and the Green Bay Packers.
After the Hall of Fame Game kicks off the NFL preseason, it’ll be until Aug. 11 before the next games are played. However, that’s a short wait to finally have football back in our lives—even if it’s just the preseason.
