With the WWE SummerSlam 2016 pay-per-view just around the corner, fans may want to know the length of this year’s event in Brooklyn, New York. It appears that this year’s edition of the SummerSlam PPV is set to run for over four hours. The news arrives via a tweet from Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, who was asked on Twitter how long the event is.

The anticipated start time for the event in Brooklyn was said to be 6:30 p.m. Eastern Time at one point and then was changed to a half hour earlier at 6 p.m. ET. That gives professional wrestling fans more than enough action and entertainment for what looks to be a fun night at the Barclay’s Center. There is a “Kickoff Show” ahead of SummerSlam which could run for a few hours.
Most WWE pay-per-views begin at 8 p.m. ET, but the main SummerSlam PPV is most likely to begin at 7 p.m. ET. That said, it’s hard to estimate the total run time for this year’s event. Could it run until 11:30 p.m. ET or so? Quite possibly.
It’s no surprise that SummerSlam will go for over four hours as this tends to be one of the lengthier pay-per-views that WWE puts on each year. The fact that this is a co-branded event which features both the Raw and SmackDown rosters also gives plenty of reason for the PPV to run longer so it can showcase more of the stars from the two rosters.
This year’s edition of the pay-per-view already has four big matches planned, with three of them involving championships.
