Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson is reportedly close to naming Robert Griffin III the team’s starting quarterback
Though the city of Cleveland may no longer be in a title-drought wrought with sadness thanks to the Cavaliers, the Cleveland Browns are still mired in uncertainty and seemingly certain disappointment heading into the 2016 NFL season. If there’s any signs of hope, though, they come in the form of their newly acquired quarterback in former Washington signal-caller Robert Griffin III.

Even still, RG3 has been in the thick of a quarterback competition at Browns training camp since it began. According to what reporters have seen from Robert Griffin III in practice and in scrimmages, though, it’s not much of a competition at all. In fact, head coach Hue Jackson looks like he might feel the same.
According to a report from Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland, RG3 has been by far the most impressive of the quarterbacks in Browns camp and Jackson has essentially reiterated that sentiment. Grossi added that he expects Jackson to name Robert Griffin III the starting quarterback “early next week” ahead of their preseason opener on Friday.
This shouldn’t be totally surprising for the Browns if we’re being realistic. Not only is the ceiling of a healthy Robert Griffin III wholly enticing, but what better options do they actually have in Cleveland right now?
In the end, it’s better to see if you can recapture some of that RG3 magic if you’re the Browns than to just stand pat with mediocrity or worse.
