400m Men’s Individual Medley
MEDAL RESULT | 400M Mens Individual Medley
Chase Kalisz was looking to try and live up to all of the hype surrounding him coming into the Olympics swimming 400m men’s individual medley, but he couldn’t make up enough ground with the breaststroke on the third 100m stretch and ultimately finished with silver with Hagino and Seto of Japan finishing with gold and bronze, respectively.
Men’s 400m Freestyle
MEDAL RESULT | 400M Mens Freestyle
Another fantastic race was the second gold medal race of the night as Mack Horton held the lead for almost the entirety of the 400m. However, Chinese “bad boy” swimmer Yang Sun started closing in on a photo finish. However, it was Horton ultimately holding him off to capture gold.
Women’s 400m Individual Medley
MEDAL RESULT | 400M Womens Individual Medley
There were definitely high hopes for the Americans when it came to Madeline Dirado and she definitely ran a great race. However, the only problem with it was that Hungary’s Katina Hosszu ran the greatest race of all time as she wholly shattered the previous world record by almost a full two seconds. Pure dominance.
Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay
MEDAL RESULT | 4x100M Womens Freestyle Relay
The Australians entered the 4x100m Women’s Freestyle Relay as the clear favorites, but the United State hoped to make a charge with Katie Ledecky joining the race. However, the Aussies couldn’t be stopped as they joined Hosszu in setting a world record on Saturday night as they captured the gold.
