After finding out the NFL’s Hall of Fame preseason game was cancelled, Colts’ punter Pat McAfee had the perfect response.

The NFL had a rough day on Sunday. Sure, the NFL Hall of Fame inductions took place, but the first preseason game of the year which was scheduled to follow that had to be cancelled due to poor field conditions.

Everyone who follows football was excited for the return of NFL action, but were stripped of that excitement on Sunday night at around 5:30 p.m. ET when it was revealed the game wouldn’t take place because some of the paint on the field was rubberized and could cause some injuries due to slipping.

The Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers were supposed to square off and fans were chomping at the bit, but the players were as well.

When the news was handed down to the players in the locker room just about an hour, or so, before kickoff, they were just as confused as the fans. Colts’ punter Pat McAfee had the perfect reaction to the madness via Twitter and it summed up just how everyone was feeling.

The league had a forgettable day as a whole as plenty of money was lost because of the cancellation of the Hall of Fame Game and the Packers’ players also had something to say:

McAfee spoke for everyone here and you have to feel for the players who were preparing for this game for weeks and will have to gear up for next week’s preseason contest. Adding another week of wait time is never fun.

At least the players are safe.
